This album holds a special place in our hearts as it encapsulates a momentous period of creativity and collaboration that unfolded during a warm and tranquil spell in mid-November 2023.
The choice of the title "Indian Summer" draws inspiration from its meteorological significance, representing a delightful and calm phase of weather that graces autumn, particularly in the months of October and November. This atmospheric phenomenon mirrors the essence of our recording and mixing process, capturing a serene and harmonious energy that permeates each track.
Delving into literary history, we find resonance with William Dean Howells' 1886 novel, also titled "Indian Summer." In the novel, the term is employed to signify a time when one can recapture the happiness of youth. Much like Howells' interpretation, our album represents a collective journey where we were able to rediscover the joy and passion for our craft.
This project is a testament to a decade-long collaboration between Sergio, Francesca, and myself. Our shared musical journey has evolved and flourished, culminating in this unique collection of compositions. To enrich our sonic palette, I had the pleasure of introducing Carlo, Franco, and Lucia, accomplished musicians who have been steadfast companions in my musical ventures for decades. The young gifted Antonio joined the team with energy and brilliance.
At the core of "Indian Summer" are three meticulously crafted compositions that shine a spotlight on the expressive and emotive qualities of string instruments. These compositions serve as the heartbeat of the album, weaving a tapestry of sound that reflects the depth of our musical exploration.
Indian Summer Suite unfolds as a captivating free improvisation, sparked by the individual musings of each musician.
Within its melodic tapestry, the album showcases the spontaneous creativity and unique contributions of each artist, resulting in a harmonious blend of musical expressions.
May this album serve as a musical time capsule, capturing not only the artistry of the moment but also the enduring bonds forged through years of collaboration and creativity.
